Starting a blog is never easy. You have to learn the platform, pick a theme, take pictures, edit the pictures, write a post with meaningful content, proofread and hope someone out there is interested in what you have to say. Although all of these things are hard the most difficult thing about starting a blog is coming up with a name. I thought of several different things before I landed on Girl with the Gucci Belt. This name seemed catchy and who doesn’t love a good alliteration? Alliterations aside there are many reasons I decided to call my blog this, the most obvious reason, I own a Gucci belt. I say this statement in the most humble way. I saved a long time to get what I consider an iconic accessory. Not only that but I ordered the belt four months in advance with the possibility of not getting one because of this item being in such high demand. I did not not know for sure that I would actually have the belt until I got a notification saying that the belt had shipped. Before I owned the belt I had the Gucci web page with the belt I wanted bookmarked and would just stare at it. Obsessed was an understatement. The Gucci belt to me isn’t just a designer item. It is an icon of what fashion is to me. To me the Gucci belt is the modern day black quilted Chanel bag. In my opinion the belt will never go out of style and something that will hold value forever. Not only that but it goes with everything and takes a good outfit to a fantastic outfit. Once I had my Gucci belt I felt like I could finally become a blogger and influencer like so many others. It is a symbol of who I now am as a blogger.
The blog name also has a story behind it. I wear my Gucci Belt probably every other day to school. If you wear something enough I guess you become known for it, so I became known for this belt (and my colored hair) around campus by some. By no means am I trying to make myself out as some type of campus celebrity, I go to a pretty big school. On several occasions though I have had multiple people approach me and say, “Hey, you’re the girl with the Gucci belt” or “Is that a Gucci belt???”, and thus a blog name was born.
The pink ruffle top worn in the first few pictures is from H&M which I paired with some striped mint pants I found at Goodwill, and maroon sock boots from Zara, and of course my Gucci Belt.
If you are thinking about purchasing a Gucci belt I will list some information about mine at the bottom of this post.
This striped top and paper bag shorts are also from H&M and I got them both on sale. The top has my favorite detail, ruffles! It’s pretty apparent from both outfits I’m obsessed with bubble gum pink and ruffles. I still put my belt with the shorts even though the shorts had a cool attached D-ring belt. That’s okay though because it gives the shorts the ability to be worn a variety of ways. Lastly, I wore my white patented leather boots for a sixties go go dancer vibe.
The belt that I own is the leather black double G belt. Currently it runs for 450$ but when I purchased mine it was 375$ before tax and around 407$ after tax. From a company’s point of view this makes sense because there is an extremely high demand for this product so Gucci can continue to keep upping their price. The belt sizing is also hard to pinpoint. I ordered a size 90 when I probably needed a size 85 to fit me perfect but there is always the option of adding holes in, which I did. I originally ordered a size up because the size 85 was not being restocked but I was also told if I ordered the size 90 it would fit low or high waisted pants rather than one or the other. The belt comes with four pre-made holes which in my opinion is too few especially if you want your belt to have more of a range for not only low and high waisted pants but so you have the option of wrapping it around a dress at your waist. I got the extra holes put in my belt for free on the second floor of Ponce City Market in a leather booth I can’t recall the name of. So if you need an extra hole in any belt and you’re in the Atlanta area I recommend finding this place!
